Star Water Seal - Industrial is a single component, polymer-modified, cement-based, fast setting, flexible waterproofing and crack-bridging membrane for concrete surfaces. It is a polymer-modified cementitious coating that can be applied to concrete surfaces to provide a waterproof barrier, as well as repair and fill small cracks. It is suitable for both internal and external surfaces, and can be used on a variety of substrates including concrete, brick, and mortar.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Prepare the surface by thoroughly removing all dust, dirt, soot or any loose particles. Degrease all the oil and grease spots, if any, with appropriate solvents and wash the surface with a jet of water. Let it dry. Fill and repair all the cracks and crevices, if any, with a mortar prepared by mixing cement, sand and Star Waterproof Exterior in 1:3:15% of cement ratio to ensure proper smoothening of the surface. 0 All parapet walls, vertical up-stands and junctions/corners are provided with 45 fillet with PMM {Polymer Modified Mortar) mixed with Star Waterproof Exterior all around the periphery of the junction. Let the surface dry to achieve SSD conditions before application.

MIXING

Take a clean container and mix the powder content with the liquid polymer slowly using a slow speed mechanical mixer until the slurry becomes smooth and homogenous. Allow the slurry to stand for few minutes so as to raise the water vapor bubbles. No dilution with water is needed.

APPLICATION

The surface should be pre-wetted thoroughly with water & brought to a touch dry state before. Apply the first coat of the slurry using a stiff nylon brush, roller or trowel to fill all small undulations. Lay 45 GSM glass fibre mesh over the angle fillet when the first coat is still wet. Apply second coat after 6 to 8 hours in perpendicular direction to the previous one. Leave it for air curing for 3-5 days. A moist hessian can be kept to avoid direct sunrays in case of bathrooms and internal areas. Let it dry without water curing for 3-5 days. The vertical walls of bathroom should be plastered and levelled neatly and prepared Star Cement Cure. Apply 2 coats of Star Water Seal – Industrial on all the vertical walls and around the shower area, sprinkle with coarse sand after the second coat in wet conditions to ensure proper adhesion of tiles.

ROOF AND WATERTANKS

General procedure should be done and screed should be overlaid on the areas exposed to foot traffic, during the process. Internal walls of the water tanks should be sprinkled with coarse sand after second coat in wet conditions to ensure proper anchoring for upcoming protection plaster.

SWIMMING POOLS

Three coats of Star Water Seal Industrial must be applied with each coat in perpendicular direction 2 to the previous one with a gap of 6-8 hours at 3Kg/m coverage. The coating should be extended to full height of internal RCC. Sprinkle coarse sand over the surface while the third coat is still wet to ensure proper adhesion of plaster.

PRECAUTIONS & LIMITATIONS

No dilution using water is needed while using Star Water Seal - Industrial during application.
5 days of moist or water curing is recommended for better performance that can be done with moist hessian cloth.
Flooding of water and pond test are recommended after complete curing.
Application should be done after 28 days of curing of concrete or masonry surface.
Cementitious screed must be laid within 24 to 48 hours after curing.

COVERAGE / SHELF LIFE

The coverage approximately is 4.5-5.5 sq ft/kg in double coats (DFT 1.2-1.5 min). 2 The coverage for 20 kg polymer is 20-24 m *Coverage may vary depending upon the nature and texture of the surface. Shelf Life is 18 months from the date of manufacturing.

HEALTH & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and a dust mask to protect your skin and eyes from contact with the product and to prevent inhaling any dust.
Avoid breathing in dust and fumes generated when mixing and applying the product. Work in a well-ventilated area or use a dust mask.
Keep the product out of reach of children and pets
Do not ingest or inhale the product
In case of any emergency or adverse effect, seek immediate medical attention, call local poison control centre or emergency medical service

HANDLING & STORAGE

Store the product in a cool, dry place. The ideal storage temperature range is between 1 to 49 degrees Celsius.
Keep the product in its original container, with the lid securely closed to prevent moisture from entering the container.
Store the product away from sources of heat, sparks, and open flames, as it is flammable material.
Store the product in an area that is out of reach of children and pets.
Do not store the product near any other chemical products.
Check the expiration date and do not use the product if it has expired.
Normal industrial hygiene procedures should be adhered to particularly when spraying.
Spillages should be cleaned up immediately with water as they will leave a film on evaporating.
